A resistance to the hormone insulin, resulting in increasing blood sugar. You may get this by eating too many processed foods. The processed foods spike your blood sugar and put pressure on your pancreas. This may cause your pancreas to not work as well and since your pancreas produces insulin, you will have less insulin.
I did this at a Saturday detention. Ironically Bogue is the one who gave it to me. How bogus.
Molecular Description
Insulin is used to transport glucose into cells. In insulin resistance your cells resist the insulin, not allowing the glucose to enter the cells. This results in your body craving carbohydrates because your cells aren't getting the energy they need. Since the glucose has nowhere to go, it builds up in your bloodstream and causes extremely high blood sugar. Then, to match all of the glucose in your blood your body produces more insulin. The insulin makes it very difficult to digest fatty acids and they end up being stored as fat causing obesity. This cycle repeats as shown in the graphic above. This in turn usually results in type 2 diabetes. With all of the stored fat it also is very bad for your heart and cause heart disease and eventually death if not treated.
